Understanding the Inputs
First day of last menstrual period
The first day of your last menstrual period. This is the day your most recent period started, counted as Day 1 of your current menstrual cycle. For example, if your period started on June 15, select June 15.
How to find it: Check your calendar, period tracking app, or the date you recorded. If you are unsure of the exact date, use your best estimate. Tracking apps like Clue, Flo, or Apple Health can provide accurate records of your cycle history.
Why it matters: The LMP date is the starting reference point for the entire cycle calculation. It anchors the projected ovulation date, fertile window, and next period. An error of a few days in the LMP shifts all calculated dates by the same amount.

Cycle Length (days)
The typical length of your menstrual cycle in days, counted from the first day of one period to the first day of the next. The average is 28 days, but cycles can range from 21 to 45 days and still be considered normal.
How to find it: Review your period tracking history over the last 3-6 months to find the average. If you have irregular cycles, use your most common cycle length. If you are not tracking yet, 28 days is a reasonable starting point.
Why it matters: Cycle length determines when ovulation occurs because the luteal phase (after ovulation) is relatively fixed at about 14 days. A longer cycle means later ovulation. For a 35-day cycle, ovulation occurs around day 21 instead of day 14.
